Kitty Corner

Over the last two years we have managed to rescue 4 kittens. Now the kittens are cats and they are messy little trouble makers. Meet my Kitty Crew:

So when you have cats, you also have food, litter, toys and beds to go along with them.  While I love cat, I hate litter boxes. YUCK!   I was on a hunt to find a way to hide the cat box.  I found a few different ideas but they looked hard to clean and not worth the trouble or money. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for but I would know it when I found it or it found me.  Then one day my hubby comes home with this big round table make from teak that he got from a yard sale for just $5.00.

( In case you wanted to know, teak is one kind of wood that is used on boats.)

He said he thought of me and knew that I could find a home for it.  I sure did find a home for it. It was the perfect size for my Kitty Corner. I couldn’t wait to put it all together. My hubby helped me get it on our pool deck. I gathered up the cat motel, food, and other belongings and got to work.

First I put the cat motel in the corner just because I liked it there.

Next, I put a cat food dish on either side of their hotel (bed). I put a place mat under their dishes because they are messy eaters.

I stashed their stored cat food and litter box under the table out of sight.

I put the litter box cleaning kit under the table as well. This is a system I have been using for a while and it works well for us.

 This includes:
  • A poop scoop with a dish to keep it in.
  • A poop holding bin. (An up cycled coffee container). When the holding bin gets full, we take it to the trash.
  • Plastic bags to change the poop holding bin. (An old tissue box holder works great)
  • A little broom.

A look at the finished product.
