Happy Monday :)
I have been wanting to make some changes to our flower beds and the entrance to our home. It needs a bit of help.
The flower bed is very big and the weeds grow faster than the grass. I have tried that black stuff under the rocks and the weed killers but the weeds still torment me. I just hate to pull weeds. One of my goals is to down size the flower bed so I don't grow as many weeds. I also want to take out those boarder stones. I have tried and tried to level them. I just don't like them any more. As for my flowers, well they just need HELP.
I found some inspiration while on a field trip with my daughter. I love the way the polls sort of look like a boat dock. I would like to put these where the boarder stones are now. I want to space them apart about every 4 feet. Then put the rope through the polls so that it dips a little.
Next up, the entrance to our home. It is a bit dirty and well, just not appealing. I was thinking about building a little table to put in this spot. I have never built anything with wood and screws so this should be good.
The other corner of the entrance holds a love of mine. My beloved light house.
My hubby likes to tell people the story about how this jewel came to live at our house. He tells people that I look at the neighboring houses as I drive home each day for inspiration for his "honey do list". Well, I say that it is just for inspiration and only the things that I can't do end up on his "honey do list". Well back to the story. One day as I was waiting for traffic to pass at a stop sign, I saw it! There in a big patch of weeds was my light house. OK, so it wasn't mine just yet. Before my courage deflated, I pulled my little van in to the owner's drive and made my way to the door. A man showed up and was happy to give it to me for just $20. Oh Happy Day!!!
I brought it home and found that it was solar and the tab to activate the solar part was never removed. Now when I come home at night, my light house is shinning it's beacon of light to welcome me home.
While I love the light house, this space just needs something. I haven't got that part worked out yet but I am working on it.
Here is the rough draft project list for my Front Flower Bed and Entrance
1. Clean front entrance area
2. Build a table for the left corner of the entrance way.
3. Figure out what "something" my light house area needs.
4. Remove boarder stones from flower bed.
5. Get prices for poles and rope to put in place of the boarder stones.
6. Research plants for the new flower bed.
