Creating Curb Appeal : Update

It has been a busy weekend. I have been making friends with the saw and drill. After some trial and error and a few pieces of cracked wood, I made my very first table.  Remember this spot on my front porch that needed attention?

I went out to our work shed on Saturday morning to see what kind of scrap wood that I could find to make my little table. Before long, I had the materials that I needed and measurements in hand. The first time around I tried to make the table out of bigger pieces of wood but it looked too chunky. It was back to the wood stash for smaller pieces. The saw and I were friends from the beginning. The drill however, was a different story. We went a few rounds but I finally won!

Now for some paint.

While the paint dried, I moved on to the next task. The outlet cover. I am not sure what happened to the cover but it has seen better days.

First, I took off the cover and the black thing behind it.

Then I put the new one on just like I took the old one off.

First the black foam.

 Then the cover.

The last thing on my to do list for this corner was the door bell. It was broken and needed to go.

The middle piece was broken.

I went in the house to get the screw driver. When I came out, I realized that the sky was getting dark. I needed to mow the grass. I like to mow the grass just before it rains or just before dark because it is cooler. Switching gears, I went out back and jumped on the lawn mower. When I came back to install the door bell (about 45 minutes later), I found the remains of my old door bell and the new door bell package on the front step.

The door bell bandit My son installed the door bell for me while I was moving. Awww, so sweet. I told my hubby what happened. He said that my son was probably afraid that I would electrocute myself so he did it.  What ever the motive, thank you! Here is my shinny new door bell. It even lights up.

So now for my little corner reveal!

I have a refreshed little corner for about $11.  Everything else was already on hand. I found the little treasure chest tucked back on a shelf at work. With permission, It now has a new home.

A refreshed little coastal corner on my front porch. Oh Happy Day.
